3 key recruits on commitment watch for Texas bash event

Texas's final big recruiting visit of the summer could bring more late-summer fireworks on the trail in the 2025 and 2026 classes over the next few weeks.

A fast-rising out-of-state running back target for Tashard Choice and the Longhorns in the 2026 class is the touted Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek four-star Amari Latimer. The 6-foot and 190-pound running back from Georgia has become a bigger priority for Choice and the Longhorns in the 2026 class in the last few months.

The Longhorns will arguably have their two top running back priorities this summer in the 2026 class on campus for the pool party/BBQ bash on July 25. High-four-star Forney (TX) product Javian Osborne joins Latimer for a marquee running back visit weekend for Choice and the Longhorns for 2026 efforts on the recruiting trail at the position.

Texas offered Latimer a while back, in January 2024. The communication between Choice and Latimer has really picked up this summer, though.

This week will be Latimer's first visit to Texas since the Longhorns offered him back in late January. He told Inside Texas (paid content) that he's excited to get to campus to visit Austin this week, and to meet many of the coaches in-person for the first time.

Since Texas lost the commitment of four-star Aledo (TX) running back Raycine Guillory Jr. earlier this summer, Choice has turned his attention elsewhere on the recruiting trail at the position for the 2026 cycle. Since this is a two running back class planned for 2026, it makes sense that the Longhorns host both Latimer and Osborne during the same recruiting event late this summer for the Texas bash.
