3 key recruits on commitment watch for Texas bash event

Texas's final big recruiting visit of the summer could bring more late-summer fireworks on the trail in the 2025 and 2026 classes over the next few weeks.

One of the top wide receiver recruits from the 2026 class visiting Texas this week for the pool party/BBQ bash is the highly touted San Antonio (TX) James Madison four-star Jordan Clay. The 6-foot-3 and 190-pound wideout target who holds a Texas offer is making his second trip out to Austin since the beginning of June.

Clay also visited Texas unofficially for the Elite Camp on June 1, where he earned himself an offer from Sarkisian and wide receivers coach Chris Jackson in-person during that weekend.

The offer immediately skyrocketed Texas's chances in this recruitment for Clay. It sounded like Texas was the offer Clay always wanted. And since he got it, he's been eager to get back to campus to see the coaching staff and other key recruits for Texas in-person again before the start of his junior season at Madison High School.

It's hard not to like Texas's chances in the race to land a commitment from Clay from various events that have transpired on the recruiting trail in the last couple of months this summer. Not only has Texas thrown its hat in the ring as one of the early major conference schools to offer Clay, but he's also visited Austin more than any other school since the start of this offseason.

This recruitment might not wrap up until well into the season, or into next offseason as well. Clay isn't in any hurry to get the recruiting process wrapped up entering his junior season this fall. But it's worth noting that Clay is one of the top in-state wide receiver targets for Jackson and the Longhorns for 2026 who could realistically end up in this class some ways down the road in this cycle.
