Among the top-rated flip targets at defensive back for the Longhorns in the 2025 class this fall is the elite five-star Houston (TX) North Shore cornerback and Ohio State Buckeyes commit Devin Sanchez.

Texas cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and Sarkisian were reportedly at North Shore High School late last week to see Sanchez, the No. 1 ranked cornerback prospect in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking. Sarkisian made the stop in Houston on the Texas helicopter tour around the state last week.

The fact that Sarkisian and Joseph made it a priority to see Sanchez, who has been committed to Ohio State for a long time, really shows how much effort the Longhorns are putting into this recruitment to try and chip away at his pledge to the Buckeyes in the next couple of months.

Sanchez committed to Ohio State back in early January 2024. It looked like Sanchez was not very willing to communicate with other schools after he committed to Ohio State over 10 months ago.

But the Longhorns have been very persistent with recruiting their top defensive back targets in-state in the 2025 class since the spring evaluation period for the 2025 class. And it now sounds like Texas has better communication with Sanchez a couple of months before signing day in early December.

Texas is really pushing to get Sanchez on campus for a gameday visit in the SEC at DKR this fall, either in late October or November. If Texas can get Sanchez on campus for a gameday visit this fall, this recruitment will get pretty interesting for the Longhorns for the top corner recruit in-state and in the entire country in the 2025 class.
