Texas football makes its mark with multiple big-time recruits officially visiting in early June

Regarding quantity, this weekend didn't have much for the official visits compared to the next few weeks. Texas will have over twice as many official visitors on campus over the next two weekends than they did from June 7-9.

But the quality of recruits at key positions, especially on the defensive side of the ball, in the 2025 class was certainly there for the Longhorns in the last couple of days. Texas had multiple key out-of-state defensive linemen on campus and an in-state priority cornerback recruit who could incredibly important to the Longhorns 2025 class if they can get them in the boat in the next few months.

This weekend's official visits could get the ball rolling for Sarkisian and staff on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class with some other important visit weekends upcoming in June. Here are three key recruits the Longhorns impressed during the first big official visit weekend in June.

Tanook Hines, WR

The surprise official visitor of this weekend, the highly touted four-star Spring (TX) Dekaney wide receiver Tanook Hines is clearly a priority for Sarkisian and WR coach Chris Jackson in the 2025 class. Hines fits a trend for Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff that is recruiting immense speed at the skill positions on both sides of the ball, especially to stretch the field at receiver.

On Texas Football's Gerry Hamilton reported on June 9 (premium content) that Hines spent time meeting with Jackson and Sarkisian during his official visit this weekend. Texas is reportedly "ascending" with Hines after the successful official visit in the last couple of days.

Sarkisian and Jackson really made Hines feel like he was a priority for them in the 2025 class. It's probably fair to say that Texas is the trendy pick in this recruitment entering the rest of Hines' summer official visits.

Hines is scheduled to officially visit South Bend to see the Notre Dame Fighting Irish next weekend. He rounds out summer officials with a trip to Waco to see the Baylor Bears on June 21. The USC Trojans and Arizona State Sun Devils have already received officials from Hines.
