Zion Williams, DL

The touted four-star Lufkin (TX) defensive lineman Zion Williams has already taken a few official visits, including a trip to Texas last weekend. The most important official visit Williams has taken this offseason was to LSU (May 31).

There was a ton of smoke surrounding LSU and Williams' recruitment following the conclusion of his official visit to Baton Rouge a couple of weeks ago. LSU really knocked it out of the park with Williams during his official trip to Baton Rouge, and many consider the Tigers the leader in his recruitment early this summer.

This upcoming weekend, Williams is scheduled to officially visit Texas A&M and new head coach Mike Elko.

While it's important to note that Williams has taken multiple visits to College Station since last offseason, and he'll be on campus during an energetic official visit weekend for the next couple of days, I don't think Texas A&M will be his final destination.

Texas A&M is still technically a factor in this recruitment for Williams. But Texas and LSU are expected to be the two schools that Williams decides between later this summer or in the fall.

Inside Texas reports (paid content) that Williams is bringing a few teammates from Lufkin along with him to get some looks from the Aggies coaches this weekend.

Williams' final official visit this summer is a trip to Austin to see the Longhorns from June 21-23. Texas gets the advantage in the sense that it gets the final official visit from Williams this summer. Kenny Baker and the Longhorns can swing momentum back in their favor and close the gap on the lead the Tigers opened up in early June.
