3 last-minute Texas CB transfer targets before portal closes
Corman McClain*
There is an asterisk next to former Colorado Buffaloes true freshman cornerback Cormani McClain's name on this list because the Longhorns likely haven't made much of a push for him since he entered the portal a couple of weeks ago.
While McClain is one of the best players available in the portal late this spring at any position from a raw talent perspective, he hasn't garnered much interest that's been publicly reported in the last few days regarding P5 schools pursuing his services as a transfer. McClain was the No. 1 rated cornerback recruit in the nation in the 2023 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking.
He showed flashes with quality outings last season in live-game action in the Pac-12 for Colorado against the USC Trojans and Arizona. However, things ultimately didn't work out for him, especially with head coach Deion Sanders and the Buffs, which has been the case for multiple Colorado players who have transferred out of Boulder amid another mass exodus from the program since last fall.
Colorado has lost over three dozen players to the transfer portal since last fall.
Texas was one of the schools that initially made contact with McClain early in his portal process. And it sounds like Texas did their due diligence with his evaluation before contacting him in the portal this spring.
Since McClain is one of the corners Texas has made contact with this spring, and he has the requisite length and immense upside, he's still someone to consider on this list.
