3 major concerns for Texas vs. Michigan

Michigan's defense will have to carry the load against a No. 3 ranked Texas squad with a ton of speed and talent on both sides of the ball in Week 2.

Managing turnovers in a hostile road environment against at top tier defense vs. Michigan

Another way Michigan's defensive playmakers can wreak havoc against Ewers and the Longhorns' offense this weekend is by generating turnovers.

There's no doubt in my mind that Michigan won't win this game if it can't setup its own offense with advantageous field position starts for drives at key points in the contest while keeping Texas from establishing the ground and passing game early with our offense and all the speed at the skill spots.

Michigan's offense was lacking under the two-quarterback system in Week 1 in a closer-than-expected win at home over the Fresno State Bulldogs. Senior quarterback Davis Warren only threw for 118 yards on well over 20 passing attempts, averaging a measly 5.4 yards per attempt.

Special teams plays, trick plays, and generating turnovers are three ways Michigan can close the gap with the on-paper matchup advantage Texas has with their defense against Warren and the unproven Wolverine passing game.

Michigan led the nation in turnover margin last season (per CFBStats). The playmakers on Michigan's defense are still capable of coming up with key turnovers if Ewers decides to throw in star cornerback Will Johnson's direction in pass coverage. Johnson had the game-sealing pick-six that went for 86 yards to seal Michigan's win over Fresno State in Week 1.
