Decision date: Aug. 30

The other highly anticipated wide receiver decision from a key target for the Longhorns in the 2025 class in August is the elite Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin five-star Jaime Ffrench.

Texas is trying to fight off big pushes in the final stretches of this recruitment for Ffrench from LSU and the Miami Hurricanes late this summer. Miami and LSU both got Ffrench on campus for unofficial visits during the final weekend of July before the dead period arrived a couple of days ago this week.

Miami made a very appealing pitch to Ffrench during his trip to Coral Gables last weekend. In fact, a lot of reports from the Miami camp have pegged the Canes as the trending school in the race for Ffrench's recruitment entering his Aug. 30 decision date. Miami really pitched everything they had at this recruitment last weekend.

Even national reporters in the industry like On3's Chad Simmons have acknowledged the momentum Kevin Beard and the Canes have right now for Ffrench's recruitment.

It would also be a mistake to completely count out head coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers in this recruitment. LSU has picked up a lot of momentum for their 2025 recruiting class, landing multiple high-four and five-star recruits in the last few weeks since summer official visits concluded in late June.

Ffrench's decision is probably going to come down to a battle on the recruiting trail between Texas and Miami. The question will be whether Sarkisian and Chris Jackson can stave off some of this momentum Miami has on the trail with Ffrench in the weeks leading up to his announcement on the second to last day of August.
