Texas basketball's 15-game SEC schedule announced for opponents and locations in 2024-25

Terry and the Longhorns get home games at the Moody Center for SEC play against the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, Mizzou Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Arkansas.

Texas's SEC road games next season will be against the Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldogs, South Carolina Gamecocks, Vanderbilt Commodores, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Arkansas.

Specific dates for the SEC conference games have yet to be announced for next season. SEC play is scheduled to begin on Jan. 4, lasting a couple of months until the regular season's conclusion on March 8.

Texas has many marquee opponents on the schedule for next season, especially now that the foes and locations are known for SEC play. Terry and the Longhorns host top opponents at the Moody Center in Austin next season, including the defending back-to-back National Champion UConn Huskies, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama, among others.

Here's a look at three of the most intriguing games for the Longhorns in SEC play.

Kentucky

Texas hosts the biggest blue blood hoops program in the SEC at the Moody Center in its first season in the SEC when Kentucky makes the trip to Austin in 2024-25. Terry's squad will get a whack at a new-look Kentucky team entering the Mark Pope era after the departure of John Calipari this spring.

Calipari's tenure at Kentucky ended following another early disappointing postseason exit, falling short of 14-seed Oakland in the Round of 64 in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Pope is tasked with restoring Kentucky's status as a consistent SEC and national title contender. The former BYU Cougars head coach brings a fast tempo and a plethora of immediate impact transfers they'll be counting on to form the core part of the rotation next season.

Kentucky's roster will almost look completely different, as Pope has already brought in seven players from the portal this spring. And the Wildcats still have a handful of scholarship spots remaining to fill mostly with portal players.

What makes this matchup between Texas and Kentucky so intriguing is the fact that both team's head coaches like to run an up-tempo, free-flowing style of play on the offensive end of the floor while also pushing the pace in transition.

Pope bested Terry the first time these head coaches met with Texas and BYU in Big 12 play this past season, with the Cougars winning 84-72 in Provo. Terry gets Pope and the Wildcats on his home court at the Moody Center when these two teams meet next season in SEC play.
