New York Giants

Among the three possible NFL Draft landing spots on this list for Brooks, the team with the best running back in the mix already is the New York Giants with Saquon Barkley. However, the situation with the Giants and Barkley is pretty spotty at the moment, given that he received the vaunted franchise tag after wanting an extension following the 2023 season.

The Giants and head coach Brian Daboll are locked in with the backfield of quarterback Daniel Jones and Barkley for at least one more season in 2024. But Jones and Barkley probably won't be two of the faces of the Giants offense for much longer.

While the move wasn't highly regarded at the time, it really seems like a mistake in hindsight now for the Giants to have signed Jones to that enormous four-year, $160 million contract extension last year.

Barkley has also been unhappy with his situation with the Giants for the last couple of years and has dealt with injury issues throughout his NFL career.

Investing in a young running back is a good move for the Giants to begin the inevitable and potentially lengthy process of rebuilding the core of this offense. If Brooks checks out medically entering the draft next month, he could be a back that the Giants bring in to develop for one year under Barkley and then turn to him as their starter in 2025.
