The most established recruitment for the Longhorns among these defensive backs officially visiting Austin midweek this week is the elite five-star Conroe (TX) cornerback Dorian Brew. Texas effectively threw its hat in the ring in this recruitment early this offseason.

While the Longhorns offered Brew in March 2023, they really made some noise in his recruitment after the first big Junior Day of this offseason in Austin back in late January. Texas made a huge impression on Brew during his Junior Day trip to Austin.

Texas is the fourth official visit Brew has taken this summer after seeing the LSU Tigers (May 31), USC Trojans (June 7), and Oregon Ducks (June 14) in the last few weeks. He's also got an official visit remaining to see the Ohio State Buckeyes this coming weekend (June 21).

There have been a lot of back and forth in this recruitment in the last few months. It sounds like Brew has recently favored USC after his official visit to Southern California a couple of weeks ago. Oregon and LSU have also made progress early this summer with Brew during his official visits to those two schools.

The fact of the matter is that Texas needs to hit a grand slam with Brew during his official visit to Austin this week to have a serious shot to win his recruitment when it's all said and done.

If Texas blows Brew and his family away in the next few days during his official visit, the Longhorns could really push Oregon and USC in the race to land his commitment in the next few months.
