Quarterback recruiting is a main focus for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian on the recruiting trail right now in the 2026 class. Texas hosts multiple quarterback prospects for visits to Austin in the next couple of months.

Top QB targets for Texas football getting visits from AJ Milwee this week

The quarterback visits begin in early June, during the Texas Elite Camp. Last year, Sarkisian and QB coach AJ Milwee landed the Longhorns' quarterback commit in the 2025 class during the Elite Camp, Saraland (AL) four-star KJ Lacey.

If Texas has a similar result to recruiting the quarterback position that they had last year, it might not be long before Sarkisian and Milwee get their guy in the 2026 class. Lacey was the first commit for the Longhorns in the 2025 class last offseason.

A quarterback commit could give Sarkisian and the Longhorns the cornerstone commit they want to build around in the 2026 class for the rest of the cycle and this offseason.

We're getting a good idea of who Texas is prioritizing at the quarterback position in the 2025 and 2026 classes based on where coaches are visiting late this spring and which prospects have been offered.

Here are three priority quarterback prospects that Texas coaches are visiting this week on the trail.

KJ Lacey (UT commit)

Inside Texas reports (paid content) that one of Milwee's first visits this week is to Saraland High School in Alabama to see Lacey. This could be the final visit Milwee takes to Saraland before Lacey's late-June official visit to Texas (scheduled for the weekend of June 21).

Texas has so far fended off runs on the recruiting trail from the likes of the Auburn Tigers, Oregon Ducks, and Ole Miss Rebels to try and chip away at Lacey's commitment to the Longhorns. Lacey has visited Auburn once since the start of the spring. He's also still considering Ole Miss and Oregon entering summer official visit season.

Lacey has maintained that his commitment to Texas is 100 percent. He has also been actively recruiting other top skill prospects to Texas, including five-star wide receivers Dakorien Moore and Jaime Ffrench.
