Expected Decision Timeline: Late June or early July

Another key defensive back target for the Longhorns in the 2025 class this summer who is on commitment watch in late June/early July is three-star Arlington (TX) Mansfield Timberview safety Nathan Tilmon.

Texas jumped in this recruitment pretty late this summer after safeties coach Blake Gideon sent an offer out to Tilmon a few weeks before his June 18 midweek official visit this summer. But Tilmon has been trending to Texas since he decommitted from the SMU Mustangs late last week.

The other schools still involved in Tilmon's recruitment approaching a likely announcement in the next few days are the TCU Horned Frogs and Utah Utes. Utah is probably the only other school that could legitimately challenge Texas's standing as the presumed frontrunner in the race to land a commitment from Tilmon in the next couple of weeks.

But from what I know now and based on recent reporting surrounding this recruitment, I feel that Tilmon is Texas's to lose with how things are trending lately. Texas likes Tilmon's speed, length, and ranginess at the safety position.

There's a good to fair chance that Texas is able to land three of its big 2025 defensive back targets who officially visited in the last 10 days, including four-star Kade Phillips, Anding, and Tilmon.
