The next upcoming decision to watch early this week for the Longhorns is the announcement for the highly touted four-star Houston (TX) Alief Hastings edge rusher Smith Orogbo. The specific time for Orogbo's announcement is around 3-3:30 p.m. CT on July 1.

Texas is among the top four schools for Orogbo entering his announcement on Monday afternoon (July 1). The other schools he'll decide between this afternoon are the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Oklahoma Sooners, and Washington Huskies.

Inside Texas reported on July 1 (paid content) that this recruitment will probably come down to a Red River battle on the trail between the Longhorns and Sooners.

Most of the recent reporting surrounding this recruitment gives Texas at least a slight edge over Oklahoma, though, to land Orogbo early this week. But there is still some uncertainty as to where Orogbo ends up committing to later today.

Orogbo has played things pretty close to the chest in his recruitment in the last few weeks. He did have successful official visits to all four of his top schools in the last month. But Texas and Oklahoma set themselves apart and check more of the boxes Orogbo wants for his college decision than Washington and Texas Tech do.
