The football pads are on, which means Texas Football is preparing for its first season in the SEC Conference. It will be a stricter conference for the Longhorns as the teams are 10x times better than the Big 12 Conference.

They will be going up against some of the biggest powerhouses in football, such as Georgia and Florida. Expectations are high for Texas after being named fourth in the coaches poll. Let's examine three reasons why the Longhorns could win the SEC Conference.

Reasons why Texas football will win the SEC in 2024: 1. Wide Receiver Core

The Longhorns have one of college football's most dangerous wide receiver cores this season. Isaiah Bond Jr., Matthew Golden Jr., Silas Bolden, Ryan Wingo, and Aaron Butler only scratch the surface of how good their core is. SEC Defenses' will have to pick their poison because I don't know how you can cover each receiver.

It will be interesting to see how SEC teams decide to cover the Longhorns. If the Longhorns are hoisting the SEC Championship Trophy this season, the Wide Receiver core will be one of the reasons why.

2. Quinn Ewers

Quinn Ewers will be another key factor in the Longhorns winning the SEC Championship this season. Ewers has extensive college football experience and helped lead the Longhorns to the College Football Playoffs last season.

With an excellent offensive line returning this season, protecting him from big hits will determine their fate in the SEC this year. If the offensive line can protect Ewers and allow him to throw the ball downfield, the Longhorns should have no problem winning the SEC Championship.

3. Winning on the road

Another critical factor in the Longhorns winning the SEC Championship this season is their ability to win on the road at some loud stadiums. It begins in week two as they travel to Ann Arbor to take on the Michigan Wolverines in the Big House.

That will be a test for when the Longhorns must go on the road to take on Arkansas and Texas A&M. Since the Longhorns walked into Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium and beat the Crimson Tide last season, this shouldn't be a big issue but will be a factor in winning the SEC Championship.
