Hall was another part of Texas's portal haul during the 2022 offseason that had a ton of potential and talent but also had some risks involved. The talented wide receiver from Florida was never the proper culture fit at Texas, leading to him entering the transfer portal for the second time in three years this offseason.

Hall joined the UCF Knights this offseason as a preferred walk-on, two years after he was originally part of Texas's roster by way of the transfer portal and Alabama during the spring a couple of offseasons ago.

Horns247's Chip Brown recently published a piece discussing Texas's transfer portal strategy and the program's progress over the last few years, going from winning five games in 2021 to winning the Big 12 last fall. Brown discussed specifically how Hall is an example of the "type of risk Texas no longer needs to take" in the transfer portal entering the SEC in 2024.

In ways similar to what happened with Billingsley a couple of years ago with the program, Hall's impact on the field was greatly limited due to some recurring off-the-field issues that kept him from progressing up the wide receiver depth chart in practice.

It really shows how far the Longhorns have come as a program when you compare the transfer portal haul from Alabama this offseason to the one it had two years ago. Texas will be looking for new Alabama transfers, including wide receiver Isaiah Bond and tight end Amari Niblack, to be key contributors to the receiving corps and passing game entering the SEC in 2024.
