3-Star 2025 DL target visiting Texas football twice this spring
A top in-state defensive line target for Texas football in the 2025 recruiting class, Denton (TX) Guyer three-star Xavier Ukponu, has reportedly set his visit plans for the spring. On3's Sam Spiegelman reported on Feb. 18 that Texas is one of seven schools that Ukponu is planning to visit this spring.
Texas is reportedly set to get multiple visits from Ukponu this spring. He wants to see the Longhorns during spring practice. And he has a visit date set to see Texas for the annual Orange-White spring football game on April 20.
Texas football still in the mix among the top schools for 3-Star 2025 DL Xavier Ukponu entering the spring
The other spring practice visit date for Ukponu to see Texas in camp hasn't been set as of the writing of this article on Feb. 18.
Ukponu has already visited Texas multiple times. But these two spring visits will be critical since it is the first time he will be meeting new Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker in-person in a trip to Austin since he was hired last month.
Texas reportedly maintains consistent communication with Ukponu and remains in the mix among his top schools.
Ukponu had a good relationship with former Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis, who was one of the first coaches to heavily recruit the touted DL from North Texas from the P5 schools.
Now on staff with head coach Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers in the same role, Davis continues to prioritize Ukponu on the recruiting trail. Ukponu will visit LSU this spring on March 8.
Other schools in the mix for Ukponu that he's visiting during the spring are the Texas A&M Aggies (March 30), USC Trojans (March 16), and Oregon Ducks (March 14). Texas A&M has been involved in this recruitment for a while, and new Aggies head coach Mike Elko has kept them in the mix since he was hired to replace Jimbo Fisher a couple of months ago.
Oregon and USC are also the top competition for the Longhorns, Aggies, and Tigers from the West Coast. Both schools are making big pushes for Ukponu entering the spring. These are two visits to monitor to the West Coast that could impact this recruitment in a big way before Ukponu's senior season kicks off this fall.
