Quinn Ewers has full command of the offense

It was a good week of practice for Texas's two top quarterbacks, junior Quinn Ewers and redshirt freshman Arch Manning. After some early ups and downs this spring, including in the last two scrimmages, Arch steadied out with some consistent performances in the last few practices this week.

Inside Texas reported on April 18 (paid content) that Ewers and Manning "threw really nice footballs" in individual and team drills this week. It sounds like Ewers and Manning were getting the ball out quickly and putting good "touch" on their throws in team drills in the last few spring practices since last Saturday.

One part of this practice report that caught my eye talked about how Ewers was able to complete some nice throws to his receivers who were draped in coverage. Texas's defensive backs have performed well in one-on-one drills with the receivers this spring. But we've still seen Ewers come up with some nice throws in tighter windows while avoiding turnovers in team drills and scrimmage settings.

We expected to hear that Ewers would close out the final week of spring practice on a high note. He's been one of the strongest and most consistent performers throughout spring practice for Texas's offense.

Ewers has really come into his own in Year 3 as the starting quarterback in Sarkisian's offense. He already had a breakout campaign last season. His redshirt junior campaign could see him truly push for Heisman contention as a top quarterback in the SEC.
