3 takeaways from Texas's first pads-on fall practice
Injury updates entering Week 2 of fall practice
The quickest takeaway I have coming out of the first day of fall practice this week is the updated injury reports. Thankfully, the Longhorns haven't had any injury news that is too severe or impactful entering the regular season thus far into fall practice.
But there are a handful of injury updates worth mentioning, including a couple of players who have worn the green jerseys in the last two days of practice since last weekend.
The most notable injury update concerns Taaffe, who was wearing a green non-contact practice jersey during team drills on Monday. Taaffe has been dealing with a hand injury that has come up here and there since late last season in Big 12 play.
Taaffe has been wearing a brace on that injured hand at times early in preseason camp. But it doesn't sound like this will be anything that will limit Taaffe too much in terms of his readiness to get on the field for live-game action entering the regular season for the Longhorns.
Another injury update of note concerns second-year offensive lineman Connor Stroh. The big 6-foot-7 and 350-pound offensive lineman was apparently held out of practice during the team drill session to recover from an ailment he's working through early in fall camp.
Lastly, it sounds like true freshman wide receiver Aaron Butler is back up to speed in fall practice after he suffered a stinger to his leg late last week. Butler was a full participant while taking third-team reps at wideout in practice today.
