Texas baseball shocked the college baseball and SEC landscape on June 25 when it was reported that it was hiring head coach Jim Schlossnagle away from the rival Texas A&M Aggies.

Who could Texas baseball swipe from Texas A&M in the portal this summer?

Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte pulled off the heist of the century, hiring Schlossnagle away from the in-state rival Aggies just one day after Texas A&M came up one run shy of the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers in the College World Series final. This is something we really haven't seen before for an in-state rival school to hire away their head coach the day after he nearly leads them to their first national title in program history.

That's not to mention the fact that this rivalry will be dialed up a notch when Texas faces Texas A&M as an SEC foe starting in 2025. Texas-Texas A&M was already going to be an extremely hotly contested rivalry in the SEC next season. Add in the hiring of Schloss, and this rivalry just reached peak status for 2025 and beyond.

One of the major question marks for the Longhorns after the hiring of Schloss and his new coaching staff early this offseason is how they will build out the roster. The NCAA Transfer Portal has been open for a while now, but the Longhorns haven't been very active considering the uncertainty surrounding the status of the head coach.

But the appeal of players joining Schloss and the Longhorns in Austin entering the SEC in 2025 should still make it very viable for this staff to get some of the top transfers in the nation into the fold.

Here are three Texas A&M transfers Schloss and the Longhorns could target in the portal this offsaeson.

Gavin Grahovac, 3B

Freshman third baseman Gavin Grahovac is one of the top underclassmen available in the transfer portal early this offseason. The SEC Freshman of the Year did a little bit of everything for the Aggies in 2024. He played multiple positions on the infield for Texas A&M this season, and even came out of the bullpen once for the Aggies.

Grahovac was a key part of the Texas A&M lineup that ranked sixth nationally in runs scored and top 50 in hits per game. He showed off his consistency and power at the plate in 2024, registering an impressive .298 batting average, 23 home runs, 65 runs batted in, and 82 runs scored.

The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound freshman from California is guaranteed to be one of the most sought-after infielders among underclassmen in the transfer portal this summer. He would be an instant upgrade to Texas's offense and defensive infield if he decides to follow Schloss from College Station to Austin entering the 2025 season.
