Early-game leads in convincing victories through the end of September has allowed Texas and Steve Sarkisian to get multiple younger players reps in live-game situations.

Texas's most impactful true freshman on the offensive side of the ball early this fall is stud wide receiver Ryan Wingo. Before suffering a lower-body injury in the first half of last weekend's SEC opener against Mississippi State at home, Wingo was the highest-graded true freshman wide receiver in the P4 (per PFF).

Wingo is part of this insane class of true freshmen wideouts who have taken the college football landscape by storm early this fall. He, along with Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith and Alabama's Ryan Williams, have already made their mark in big games in front of national audiences early this college football season.

Despite the first-half injury last weekend against Mississippi State, Wingo has still been one of Texas's most explosive playmakers early this season. He's already creeping up on a half dozen explosive plays for Texas's offense. Wingo is the only Texas wideout this season with over 100 deep-ball receiving yards this season.

Wingo also had at least one explosive play for Texas's offense in each of the season's first four games. He could've had a chance to extend that streak of games with an explosive play on offense had he remained healthy all throughout the Mississippi State contest on Sep. 28.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see Wingo continue to get a heavy helping of targets in the passing game for the Longhorns, after he has the time to rest up and get healthy during the bye week in early October.
