Among Texas's immediate impact transfers in the backcourt who arrived on campus a few weeks ago for summer workouts that is grabbing attention already is former Indiana State Sycamores redshirt junior guard Julian Larry. The super senior guard has looked as advertised, if not better than we expected him to be as one of the top senior transfers in the portal during the spring window.

All of the impressive guards Texas added via transfer portal and high school recruiting this offseason make Terry's backcourt one of the most formidable in the SEC entering the 2024-25 season.

Larry and fellow former Indiana State grad transfer Jayson Kent have both looked the part early in summer workouts. They both provide Texas with important depth and knowledge of the game that can help some of the younger players develop this offseason.

So far this summer, Larry has reportedly emerged as one of the vocal leaders on the court for Texas on both ends of the floor. His leadership skills and knowledge of the game has reportedly earned him a key role in the backcourt as one of the big communicators for this team entering next season.

Another aspect of Larry's game and basketball IQ that has impressed those in and around the program this summer is his vision and ability to "see the floor". He sees the game developing in slow motion it sounds like, allowing him to slice and dice opposing defenses with his facilitating and distributing abilities on offense.

On the defensive end, Larry's off-ball awareness and length make him a very disruptive presence and a tremendous perimeter defender one-on-one.
