3 Texas transfers making an immediate impact this summer
Silas Bolden, WR
No other Texas transfer who enrolled this summer has received as many positive remarks in the last couple of weeks compared to the former Oregon State Beavers senior grad transfer Silas Bolden. The speedy and quick wideout/special teams threat has looked even better than advertised since he arrived on campus as a summer enrollee in late May.
We mentioned in a piece on the site earlier this week that Bolden is "seriously turning heads" early in summer workouts. Bolden's speed and elusiveness has caught the attention of the Texas coaches in summer conditioning and 7-on-7 work.
Bolden has easily earned himself a spot among the top four or five wideouts in Sarkisian's rotation in live-game action for this fall. His speed and elusiveness in space makes him too dangerous of a weapon to keep him off the field in the special teams return game and on offense.
Early in 7-on-7 work this summer, Bolden appears to be making life difficult for some defensive backs covering his speed one-on-one. This isn't something you hear too often that a wide receiver is talked about so much regarding his speed and agility during summer workouts and 7-on-7.
Another valuable aspect of Bolden's addition as a summer enrollee is his veteran leadership in the locker room and film room. He gives this wide receiver room that has so many new faces some veteran stability, despite him being a portal addition also.
I think that aspect of Bolden's leadership qualities that he is a summer enrollee joining multiple other immediate impact transfers in the receiving corps makes him a relatable voice in the locker room to help these other guys transitioning into the program.
