An often overlooked underclassman in Texas's receiving corps entering the SEC this year is sophomore DeAndre Moore Jr. After coming on strong during spring ball, Moore has legitimately challenged other more experienced wide receivers like Silas Bolden and Johntay Cook II for starting reps out of the slot this fall in camp.

Moore is a prime candidate to replace the leadership and grit Texas is losing at the slot receiver position after the departure of senior starter Jordan Whittington to the NFL Draft this spring.

From a quickness and route running perspective, Moore is one of the best Texas has with his ability to work in tight windows and make things happen after the catch from the slot receiver position. Moore is good at working between the numbers and down the seams in the downfield passing game.

Moore is also one of the more polished and consistent blockers Texas has in the receiving corps. He's got a strong frame, good hands, and doesn't shy away from physicality in the blocking game on the outside and out of the slot at receiver.

If Moore shows out early in preseason camp, he could quickly emerge as a real contender to be the starting slot receiver entering Week 1 against Colorado State at DKR.
