3 Texas WRs turning heads in first week of fall camp

The Texas wide receiver room is reaching heights for its talent and depth that it hasn't seen at all in the four years under head coach Steve Sarkisian since 2021.

Silas Bolden

The other new addition for the Longhorns this offseason who has impressed the coaching staff and his teammates immediately is former Oregon State Beavers grad transfer senior Silas Bolden.

Among the three transfer wideouts the Longhorns added from the portal this offseason, Bolden was the last to enroll during the summer. Junior transfer wideouts Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden both arrived on campus as early enrollees to participate in spring ball earlier this offseason.

Bolden enrolling in early June for the start of summer workouts clearly didn't slow him down, though. He's been the talk of the town during the first week of fall practice for the receiving corps and the special teams unit in the return game.

Between the difficult contested catches he's been making, the speed he's put on display, and his ability to make an impact on the return game, Bolden has carved out a role for himself on multiple sides of the ball for the Longhorns right away in fall camp.

Something else that caught my eye regarding the first-week returns and feedback from Bolden's fall practices this week is his ability to get physical as a blocker out wide. OTF's Gerry Hamilton reported on Aug. 3 (premium content) that Bolden has been the "most physical" blocker among the Texas wideouts in team drills in the last few days.
