3 Texas WRs turning heads in first week of fall camp
DeAndre Moore Jr.
The praise for sophomore Texas wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. during the first week of preseason camp started before the first day of practice on July 31. Moore received compliments from Sarkisian and his teammates for his emerging leadership traits he's shown in Year 2 of his collegiate career at Texas.
Moore was also recognized by Sarkisian during his post-practice press conference on Aug. 1 for his body transformations that he has made so far during offseason workouts.
"DeAndre Moore, Johntay, Niblett, all those guys in year two always look a little bit better,"
-Â Steve Sarkisian
You can tell Moore is getting down to business with the right mindset to succeed as a potential first-year full-time starter out of the slot in the receiving corps. We've heard various reports and discussions from the media about Moore being the first guy at practice to open up preseason camp earlier this week.
Moore has earned the first-team reps he's taken in practice out of the slot this week. He'll continue to battle Bolden and Golden for the starting slot receiver reps before the regular season opener on Aug. 31 against Colorado State.
But he's shown the early signs of having the right type of work ethic, mindset, and performance on the practice field to earn the starting job at slot receiver entering the regular season in a few weeks.
