Likely the top priority for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail for the 2026 class that will be taking an unofficial visit this weekend for the Texas-Michigan game in Ann Arbor is the No. 1 running back recruit in the nation for that cycle in the On3 Industry Ranking.

The elite high-four-star Forney (TX) running back priority Javian Osborne is a top target at the position for Tashard Choice and the Longhorns in the 2026 class. Texas's running backs coach has arguably made Osborne his top priority in the backfield for recruiting in the 2026 class since the spring evaluation period last offseason.

During the offseason, Osborne took trips to see Michigan and Texas. And while he visited Texas more unofficially than any other school since the start of the 2024 offseason, Michigan is still very much involved among the top schools in Osborne's recruitment going into the fall on the trail.

Inside Texas's Justin Wells reports (paid content) that Texas and Michigan could wind up being the top two schools that battle it out on the recruiting trail for Osborne over the next year or so.

Osborne is also scheduled to take a gameday visit to see the Longhorns face Georgia at DKR in mid-to-late October. It wouldn't surprise me if Osborne shows up to multiple Texas games this fall, even outside of the Michigan game in Ann Arbor this weekend.

It's certainly possible that Osborne's trip to Ann Arbor this weekend winds up being beneficial for the Longhorns in the sense that a good offensive and total team performance could make them look very good entering SEC play in a few weeks.
