The last of the three outstanding portal targets for the Longhorns that visited Austin within the last week to 10 days is former Oregon State Beavers sophomore guard Jordan Pope. The 6-foot-2 and 165-pound guard from Oakley, CA, took a multi-day trip to Texas in the middle of last week.

Pope specifically visited Texas on April 16 before making a trip to College Station a couple of days later to see the Texas A&M Aggies.

We mentioned on the site last week that the Longhorns looked like the "team to beat" in this portal recruitment. That report on the site saying that Texas was setting the pace for Pope was just before his visit to Austin began on Tuesday.

It appears that the Longhorns still have confidence in their positioning in this portal recruitment a few days after Pope's visit to College Station concluded. Texas and Texas A&M are still the only two schools Pope has visited since entering the portal last week.

As it looks like this portal recruitment is entering its final stages, Texas has to feel good about its chances with Pope. There are other teams that are reportedly considering getting in the race to land his commitment in the portal, including Arkansas and the Ole Miss Rebels. But Texas would be the favorite for Pope if one had to be named right now.
