In less than an hour, Texas football will begin action for the spring game at DKR on April 20. The annual Orange-White spring football game begins at 1 p.m. CT on April 20.

Texas football hosting multiple blue-chip recruits for visits during the spring game

While the status of this year's spring game was threatened by adverse weather in Austin, it looks like the rain and thunder/lightning will hold off for long enough to get things underway at DKR.

Texas has multiple visiting recruits on campus from the 2025 and 2026 classes for the spring game today. This is the final weekend of spring visits for the Longhorns after head coach Steve Sarkisian and staff picked up some serious momentum on the recruiting trail in the last couple of weeks.

Last week, Texas picked up a commitment from 2025 four-star Dallas (TX) Skyline linebacker Elijah "Bo" Barnes. The Longhorns have also started trending for multiple key portal targets and high school recruits late this spring, a handful of which are visiting for the spring game this weekend.

Here are three visiting recruits for the Longhorns on commitment watch for the spring game this weekend.

Kelshaun Johnson, WR

The highly touted four-star Hitchcock (TX) wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson has been trending positively for the Longhorns in the last few weeks of spring practice. Johnson had a successful unofficial trip to Texas a couple of weeks ago for Longhorn City Limits (April 6).

The fact that Johnson made a return visit to Texas just a couple of weeks after a multi-day trip to Austin for Longhorn City Limits shows just how serious things could be getting in this recruitment for the Longhorns. Inside Texas reported on April 19 (paid content) that Johnson made the trip to Austin this weekend with his mom, which is a good sign of where the Longhorns are trending right now in this recruitment.

Johnson was reportedly scheduled to originally be in California to see the USC Trojans spring game this weekend. But he made a last-minute change of plans to make it to Austin for the Texas spring game on April 20.

If Texas really makes a big push with Johnson this weekend, he could be a candidate to be the next visiting recruit to commit to the Longhorns in the 2025 class.
