Lance Jackson, EDGE (Texas commit)

Texas had multiple commitments in the 2025 recruiting class visiting campus for the Week 1 win on Saturday against Colorado State at DKR. High-four-star Texarkana (TX) Pleasant Grove edge rusher Lance Jackson and four-star Houston (TX) Alief Hastings edge rusher Smith Orogbo highlighted the handful of 2025 Texas commitments that visited for the season opener this weekend against Colorado State.

Jackson and Orogbo both came away from the 52-point shutout win over Colorado State very impressed by Texas's playmakers on defense and the defense's shutdown performance as a whole. Jackson told Inside Texas (paid content) after the visit that Texas's defense "looks real nice" and that the Longhorns have "playmakers everywhere" on that side of the football this fall.

Texas has hosted Jackson for multiple visits on the Forty Acres since the spring last offseason. He is expected to make it back to Austin for at least one or two more gameday visits this season at Texas.

Jackson Blackwell, DL (Baylor commit)

One of the top visiting recruits from the 2025 class for the Longhorns for the Colorado State game over the weekend who is currently committed to another in-state FBS school is Baylor Bears three-star defensive line commit Jackson Blackwell. The 6-foot-3 and 305-pound defensive lineman from Lorena (TX) High School made his first visit to Texas unofficially since spring practice back in April for the Colorado State game on Aug. 31.

This was also the third time that Blackwell had visited Austin unofficially for a gameday at DKR (per Horns247). Blackwell was reportedly impressed by the atmosphere at DKR during the game and the communication and performance on defense for the Longhorns along the front seven in the shutout win over the Rams.
