Daylan McCutcheon, WR (Florida State commit)

Four-star Lucas (TX) Lovejoy wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon made his first gameday visit to Texas this weekend for the SEC opener against Mississippi State since mid-July, when he committed to the Florida State Seminoles over the Longhorns and USC Trojans. McCutcheon is still keeping exploring all options in his recruitment.

McCutcheon was on campus in Austin for the Mississippi State game this weekend while the program he's committed to, Florida State, was getting handily defeated by the SMU Mustangs a few hours up the road in Dallas at Gerald Ford Stadium.

On3's Steve Wiltfong said that the gameday visit "impressed" McCutcheon after Texas's win over Mississippi State yesterday at DKR. According to Wiltfong, Texas and the Texas A&M Aggies both have realistic chances of flipping McCutcheon's commitment from Florida State on the trail this fall.

What specifically impressed McCutcheon about his gameday visit to DKR for the Mississippi State win for the Longhorns this weekend was the environment and the great plays that the wideouts made down the stretch to seal the win over the Bulldogs.

It sounds like it is very realistic to expect McCutcheon back at another Texas game in the SEC this fall, including potentially Red River on Oct. 12 against OU.

Jamarion Carlton, EDGE

The second of the two in-state elite edge rusher recruits from the 2026 class that visited Texas unofficially for the SEC opener against Mississippi State at DKR this weekend was Temple (TX) high-four-star Jamarion Carlton. The No. 5 EDGE recruit in the nation in the 2026 class in the On3 Industry Ranking made his first gameday visit to Texas this fall to see the Longhorns beat Mississippi State.

Carlton was really impressed by the play of Texas's defensive front in the pass rush, especially in the second half against Mississippi State. Texas registered a season-high six sacks to really clamp down on Mississippi State true freshman quarterback Michael Van Buren to seal the double-digit victory.

This visit was a success in Carlton's eyes, as he liked what he saw from Pete Kwiatkowski's defense. He also spent time with PK and the Longhorns coaching staff after the game to discuss his recruitment further in-depth and break down film.

Carlton is scheduled to make a return trip to Texas unofficially on Oct. 19 for the matchup at DKR against the Georgia Bulldogs.
