4 key recruits trending to Texas after big visit weekend

Texas could land multiple commitments in the 2025 class if they keep the momentum going on the trail before the dead period next week.

Trestin Castro, CB (USC commit)

The only flip target Texas hosted among the official visitors last weekend was the highly touted four-star USC Trojans cornerback commit and Upland (CA) product Trestin Castro. The big 6-foot-2 and 170-pound corner from California made his first visit to Texas last weekend officially.

And it sounds like Castro's trip to Texas could've have gone much better last weekend. Texas definitely closed the gap a good bit on USC to make head coach Lincoln Riley and the Trojans sweat a little in Castro's recruitment.

The reactions from the media since Castro's official visit to Texas concluded yesterday have been almost surprisingly positive. It looks like Texas made a big enough impression on Castro to not only make things interesting in his recruitment early this summer, but also to potentially flip his commitment in the coming weeks.

The question regarding Castro's status will be answered this upcoming weekend when he takes his official visit to USC from June 21-23. USC will be looking to keep Castro's commitment firm entering the dead period in late June.

But if the USC visit falls short of expectations for Castro and his family this weekend, he'll definitely have something to consider after the strong impression Texas made on his visit last weekend.
