This weekend will be critical for Texas's defensive line recruiting efforts out-of-state in the 2025 class. Texas hosts multiple out-of-state blue-chip visitors who are top targets along the interior defensive line for this cycle.

Texas and new defensive line coach Kenny Baker have a little over a half-dozen out-of-state defensive linemen they're prioritizing in the 2025 class entering summer official visits. And one of the most important of that group of out-of-state defensive line targets for 2025 is the highly touted Sacramento (CA) Folsom four-star Josiah Sharma.

The 6-foot-4 and 320-pound defensive lineman from Northern California is the type of high long-term upside prospect Texas needs among their big humans in the trenches entering the SEC.

Texas is primarily battling the Alabama Crimson Tide in this recruitment. Sharma was originally committed to the Washington Huskies and Kalen DeBoer. But he re-opened his recruitment when DeBoer left Washington early this offseason to be the next Alabama head coach after Nick Saban's retirement.

Many believe Alabama is the pacesetter in this recruitment this summer since Sharma has the longstanding relationship with DeBoer. But Texas can swing the momentum in this recruitment if they knock this official visit out of the park this weekend.

Texas already had one successful unofficial visit with Sharma and his mom during the spring. That successful spring trip helped Texas make up a lot of ground with Sharma and his family.
