Link Jarrett, Florida State head coach

In the last two years, Link Jarrett has brought the Florida State Seminoles back to the level of national relevance. After an up-and-down first year as Florida State's head coach during the 2023 season, Jarrett has turned the Seminoles into one of the most improved teams in the nation in 2024.

Florida State has more than doubled its wins year-over-year in 2024 (23 to 48). Jarrett has taken Florida State back to Omaha for the College World Series for the first time since 2019. He is one of three head coaches in Florida State program history to make the College World Series in his first two years.

Jarrett, a two-time National Coach of the Year, also found a lot of success in his two full seasons (excluding the COVID-19 shortened season in 2020) with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Jarrett led Notre Dame to the College World Series for just the third time in program history in 2022.

In his first full season as Notre Dame's head coach in 2021, he led the Irish to Super Regionals and won the ACC regular season title.

Jarrett also arguably led the UNC-Greensboro Spartans to their most successful college baseball era in program history during his time there in the 2010s. He led UNCG to a regular season conference title in 2018 and to the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

The trouble with possibly pursuing Jarrett as a coaching candidate for the Longhorns to replace Pierce would be the fact that he's a Florida State alum.
