4-Star DL JJ Hanne visiting for Texas bash this week
Texas football has upped its pursuit on the recruiting trail late this summer of the rising three-star Rancho Santa Margarita (CA) Santa Margarita Catholic defensive lineman JJ Hanne. Since Texas offered him on June 4, Hanne's attention has been captured by head coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive line coach Kenny Baker.
4-Star DL JJ Hanne to make his first Texas football unofficial visit this week
The Longhorns' pursuit of Hanne on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class this summer really started when Baker and co-DC Pete Kwiatkowski visited him at Margarita Catholic back in May. Texas sees a lot of potential in the 6-foot-5 and 280-pound defensive tackle from California, who just started playing football in the last couple of years.
The first crack at hosting Hanne for a visit since the Longhorns offered him last month looks like it will happen later this week. OTF's Gerry Hamilton reported on July 23 (premium content) that Hanne is planning to visit Texas unofficially in a couple of days during the late July pool party/BBQ bash.
Hanne will reportedly arrive in Austin on the day of the Texas bash on July 25, and he will also spend the following day on campus for his unofficial visit through Friday.
Texas's biggest competition in this recruitment comes from the Texas A&M Aggies, Oregon Ducks, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Auburn Tigers. All of the aforementioned schools have received at least one unofficial visit from Hanne since early in the spring.
Georgia, Oregon, and Texas are reportedly the three schools most likely to get official visits from Hanne this fall. It will be important to see if the Longhorns get that official visit on the books when Hanne visits the Forty Acres later this week.
It's noteworthy that Hanne will be making the trip out to Eugene to see head coach Dan Lanning and Oregon for an unofficial visit in the upcoming weekend following the conclusion of his visit to Texas.
