4-Star Texas football DL target Zion Williams set to commit next month

Williams included Texas among his top four finalist schools he'll decide between on July 4, also including the LSU Tigers, TCU Horned Frogs, and Texas A&M Aggies. His decision is set to come after he finishes his June official visits.

Last weekend, Williams officially Baton Rouge to see LSU and head coach Brian Kelly. There was considerable buzz surrounding LSU in this recruitment entering Williams' official visit to Baton Rouge on May 31. And it sounds like a successful visit to Baton Rouge over the weekend furthered the distance between the leading Tigers and the rest of the field in this recruitment.

Williams also officially visited another one of his finalist schools, TCU, in early May.

The three official visits remaining for Williams this summer are Texas A&M (June 7), the Arkansas Razorbacks (June 14), and Texas (June 21). While Williams didn't include Arkansas among his top four schools in his announcement post on social media today, the official visit hasn't been canceled yet.

It's noteworthy that Texas gets the final official visit from Williams before his July 4 decision date. That gives head coach Steve Sarkisian, defensive line coach Kenny Baker, and the Longhorns a chance to swing momentum in this recruitment before Williams gets ready to announce during the July 4 holiday.

Williams is among Texas's top in-state priorities among blue-chip defensive linemen in the 2025 class. He's visited Texas multiple times in the last year, most recently during spring practice in early April unofficially. Williams ranks as the No. 294 prospect nationally in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite, No. 33 defensive lineman, and No. 41 from Texas.
