The only defensive line commitment in the 2025 Texas football recruiting class, Melbourne (FL) Eau Gallie four-star Brandon Brown, continues to hear pitches from other competing programs on the trail entering the spring. Brown was open about his intentions to visit other schools after he committed to Texas a few months ago in the 2025 class.

4-Star Texas football DL commit Brandon Brown will visit Alabama this weekend

Brown posted on social media on March 7 that he will be taking an unofficial visit this weekend to Tuscaloosa to see new head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide. This will be Brown's first visit to Tuscaloosa since last summer.

New Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker has built a good relationship with Brown and his family since he was first hired to replace Bo Davis early this offseason. Losing Davis looked like it would be a potential setback for the Longhorns in this recruitment.

But Brown has maintained that his commitment to Texas is firm entering the spring. Brown told 247Sports that he is "happy" with how things stand with his commitment to Texas this offseason.

"I’m just taking one day at a time. And I want to get to know coach and go from there."

Brown will take his first visit to Texas since he committed to the Longhorns last December on March 22. He also has summer official visits scheduled to see the Tennessee Volunteers (June 6), Texas (June 14 to 16), and the USC Trojans (June 21 to 23).

Brown committed to Texas over multiple top SEC schools in December

When Brown originally committed to Texas, he chose the Longhorns over the likes of the Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, Florida State Seminoles, and the Georgia Bulldogs, among others.

He committed to Texas for multiple reasons, mainly due to his relationship with then DL coach Davis and the trajectory of the Longhorns' program entering the SEC in 2024. The LSU Tigers have remained in pursuit of Brown on the recruiting trail as a key flip target since Davis took the DL coach job in Baton Rouge early this offseason.

Brown is one of five recruits committed to the Longhorns in the 2025 class. Texas has three commits along the front seven in the 2025 class on the defensive side of the ball, including Brown, four-star Texarkana (TX) Pleasant Grove edge rusher Lance Jackson, and three-star Pearland (TX) Shadown Creek outside linebacker Anthony Williams.
