Four-star Texas football linebacker commit, and Dallas (TX) Skyline product Elijah "Bo" Barnes took an abrupt unofficial visit this weekend to Eugene, OR, to see the Oregon Ducks host the Idaho Vandals for their season opener on Saturday.

247Sports was the first to report the unofficial trip that Barnes and his family took to Eugene this weekend to see head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

Since Barnes committed to the Longhorns in the 2025 class back in April, he had only taken one visit officially to see Texas during the summer. He also took multiple unofficial trips to Texas since he committed to the Longhorns roughly five months ago.

Barnes has a relationship with Oregon associate head coach/running backs coach Ra'Shaad Samples, who brought him up to Eugene for this gameday visit this weekend for the Idaho game.

Following the conclusion of his gameday visit to Eugene this weekend, Barnes said that he's "still locked in with Texas". Barnes is reportedly scheduled to take an unofficial visit to Texas for a gameday at DKR later this month, likely for either the UTSA or Mississippi State game on Sep. 28.

From what's being reported surrounding this gameday trip that Barnes and his family took up to Oregon this weekend to watch the Ducks defeat Idaho by 10 points, I don't think there's too much for Longhorns' fans to worry about regarding the chances of flipping his commitment right now.

We will continue to follow this recruitment for any status updates that come out regarding any future official visit date that is scheduled for Barnes to make a return trip to Eugene. If that does happen, which I say since Barnes didn't technically close the door to that likelihood in the future that he'll officially visit Oregon before signing day this fall, then Texas fans should start legitimately worrying about the chances of him flipping his commitment from the Longhorns to the Ducks in the next few months.
