Quinn Ewers coming into his own as a leader of the offense in Year 3 at Texas

We could write a book-length essay on the journey Ewers has had to get up to this point as a top quarterback in college football in 2024 and his three years at Texas as the starter. But the fact of the matter is that Sarkisian's offense requires a pretty experienced quarterback to run things efficiently and consistently week in and week out.

Ewers' development is one of the biggest reasons why the Longhorns have improved in terms of offensive success and adding more ticks to the win column in the last few years. He was a critical part of Texas's success in the Big 12 and reaching the College Football Playoff in the final year before entering the SEC in 2023-24.

"“This guy is exuding confidence right now. There’s nothing better for anybody in your organization, for anybody in your building, to walk in and say ‘there’s our guy.'”"

Steve Sarkisian on Quinn Ewers

In the last few years at Texas, we've always known Ewers to be a calm and collected personality off the field and in interviews. The difference now is that he's translated that calm and cool personality and those associated traits to become a more effecitve leader on the practice field and in the locker room this offseason.

Really since last offseason, you could see Ewers getting more and more comfortable in Sarkisian's system on offense.

The growth combined with Ewers' talent that has come to the forefront regarding his statistical success leading Texas's offense has culminated in Heisman hype entering the 2024 season. He's expected to be a top-performing quarterback in the SEC this fall and a likely first-round NFL Draft pick next spring.

But Ewers isn't letting all this hype and expectation for the upcoming season for Texas in the SEC get to his head.

"“I think Quinn is probably like the coolest guy in the room. He doesn’t get caught up in Heisman hype. Even in-game, when you think about Quinn, when he shows those moments of emotion on a great throw, it’s almost shocking to people because even when the bad moments occur, he stays so calm and so cool in the moment.”"

This year is building up to be Ewers' best regarding his ability as a leader and efficiently commanding the offense on the field this fall in the SEC.
