4 takeaways from Texas's dominant win over Colorado State
Arch Manning steals the show in the second half
One of the biggest storylines of the season opener for the Longhorns this afternoon was redshirt freshman quarterback Arch Manning getting to lead the offense for multiple drives in the second half of the ball game.
Manning stole the show from literally the first throw he made in the third quarter of the game, where he found sophomore wide receiver Johntay Cook II for an explosive 40-yard catch and run to put the offense in the red zone. Arch found Cook with a nice throw while he was rolling out of the pocket with good accuracy and timing to let the second-year wideout find extra space to run for the big gain after the catch.
Just a couple of plays later, Arch made another highlight-reel play with a nice flip pass to super senior wideout Silas Bolden for his first touchdown catch as a Longhorn. It was also Manning's first career touchdown pass at Texas.
During the following drive after the big touchdown flip pass from Manning to Bolden, Arch scored the first rushing touchdown of his collegiate career. Arch scored his second touchdown of the game with his legs on a QB sneak into the end zone to get Texas over the 50-point mark against the Rams.
Arch showed why there was so much confidence and excitement within the program surrounding his growth and development coming out of training camp and the offseason. He and Ewers have proven that Texas has the most talented QB room in all of college football.
