Who could move to fill the emergency running back depth for Texas in fall practice after the recent wave of injuries to this position group with sophomore CJ Baxter and freshman Christian Clark in the last seven or 10 days?

Kobe Black, CB

True freshman cornerback Kobe Black is another potential option for the Longhorns to consider among the younger players who aren't in a starting spot currently who could get reps on both offense and defense this fall camp.

Like Gullette, Black has experience playing on both sides of the football from high school. Black did a little bit of everything for Waco (TX) Connally during his high school career. He played offense, defense, and special teams. Black registered over 750 career rushing yards and a few rushing touchdowns, along with over 1,200 total yards from scrimmage at the varsity level.

While Black doesn't have that same bigger frame and athletic explosion off the ball that Gullette brings as more of that true athlete mould on the football field, he is still a viable option to move to running back if the staff doesn't want to move other backers or skill guys on offense.

Inside Texas explained the depth situation in context for the Longhorns with the emergency injuries to the running back room for Sarkisian this fall. There is always a trade-off between getting the preparation and emergency depth necessary to make sure the running back room is at least stabilized and ready for live-game action in different situations this season while not taking too much away from the development and valuable reps with other position groups this fall camp.
