4 Texas players who could move to RB this fall

Who could move to fill the emergency running back depth for Texas in fall practice after the recent wave of injuries to this position group with sophomore CJ Baxter and freshman Christian Clark in the last seven or 10 days?

Texas's deepest position group on the offensive side of the ball currently, at least among the candidates to move positions to running back this fall camp, is the receiving corps. The Longhorns have some players worth mentioning from the receiving corps deeper down the depth chart who could be moved to running back for entering the second fall scrimmage and the second half of fall practice.

Among the Texas receivers who could be cross-trained at running back, redshirt freshman Ryan Niblett might make the most sense among all the options available. Niblett is a good candidate to cross-train with the extra reps in fall practice at receiver and potentially running back given the need there right now.

While the weight Niblett brings to the table this fall, at 185 pounds and 5-foot-10, is less than ideal to take the contact required to run between the tackles as a running back on offense, his speed is very considerable here.

Trying out Niblett at running back I think would be more of a consideration of whether the Texas staff wants to add another more elusive and thinner frame to the backfield or a bigger body to the backfield this fall camp.
