Texas leads the SEC in passing yards

Piggy backing off the point of how good Texas's offensive line should be in the SEC this year, with four out of the five returning starters from last season coming back for this fall, Ewers should have a lot of time to make the right decisions comfortably from the pocket. Now, I'm not saying that the SEC doesn't boast a ton of talented, NFL-caliber edge rushers who can get in the way of Ewers' success throwing the ball for the Longhorns offense this fall.

What I am trying to point out is that Texas's passing game can be one of the most lethal in the SEC with its combination of weapons in the receiving corps (along with speed on the outside), reliable blocking, and a deep tight end room. What makes all this work is the third-year starting quarterback in Ewers, who is returning and possibly looking at a Heisman finalist spot if he plays up to his full potential on the field this season for the Texas offense.

The biggest thing that sticks out to me about the latest Heisman odds, with Ewers included, is the fact that there aren't any running backs in sight among the top leaders of this odds list.

Three out of the five top odds-on favorites on this Heisman list for this preseason are SEC quarterbacks, and the other two P4 quarterbacks from the Big Ten and a pass-happy Colorado team joining the new-look Big 12 this year.

The fact that in such a quarterback-loaded year with the Heisman odds that Ewers is still near the top of that list just goes to show how many chances at high level success he'll have with the Texas offense leading them through the SEC this fall.
