Savion Red, RB (Nevada)

The other former Texas running back who transferred from the Longhorns to Nevada to join Choate and the Wolf Pack is junior Savion Red. The big 5-foot-10 and 220-pound back Red is competing for a spot on the two-deep at running back for Nevada this fall.

Red contributed to Texas's offense mostly in short-yardage and goal line packages in the "Redcat formation" last season. He registered a career-high 131 rushing yards on 30 carries (over 12 games played) and one rushing touchdown in the 2023 season.

Last offseason, Texas converted Red from wide receiver to running back to take advantage of his size and downhill running ability along with his versatility at the skill positions.

Kitan Crawford, DB (Nevada)

As part of a remodeling and overhaul of the Texas safety room early in the 2024 offseason, the Longhorns lost multiple players with over a dozen starts from the last few years to the transfer portal, including senior Kitan Crawford who went to Nevada.

Crawford and fellow former Texas senior safety Jerrin Thompson were among the handful of Texas defensive backs who started multiple games last year and still transferred to other FBS schools during the winter portal window this offseason.

The 2023 Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year honorable mention played 46 games in his career at Texas, including three starts last season at the safety position. Crawford registered over 60 combined tackles in his four years at Texas (from 2020-2023), two tackles for loss, one interception, and three pass breakups.

Crawford has competed for the starting job at safety in fall camp for Choate and Nevada's secondary.
