Texas missed two of its key sophomore safeties on the two-deep depth chart in the secondary last weekend for the win over ULM, McDonald and Derek Williams Jr. Williams is dealing with a hamstring injury since the UTSA game in Week 3.

Williams missed last weekend's win over ULM due to the hamstring injury. His status remains uncertain heading into this weekend's SEC opener against Mississippi State.

Before the hamstring injury, Williams took 76 defensive snaps for the Longhorns over three games. He registered seven combined tackles, one defensive stop, and his first career interception in the double-digit road victory over the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines in Week 2 in Ann Arbor.

Jaydon Blue, RB

After being held out of the UTSA game due to an ankle sprain he suffered in the win over Michigan on Sep. 7, Blue was active for the Longhorns last weekend against ULM. Blue not only got the start for the Longhorns in the dominant 51-3 win over ULM last weekend, he had a career day on the ground and getting into the end zone a career-high four times against the Warhawk defense.

Blue rushed for a season-high 124 yards on 25 attempts, with three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. He spoke on what he thought about his big performance from the win over ULM during the postgame player availability with the media last weekend.

"Just the team win. We played a lot of guys again. And of course, we got to play with five different running backs."

Jaydon Blue

Blue is expected to get the start this weekend at running back against Mississippi State.
