No. 2 Texas football emerged triumphant amid a big home crowd in a crazy primetime atmosphere at home at DKR in Austin against the UTSA Roadrunners over the weekend. Texas defeated UTSA by a score of 56-7 on Sep. 14 to start the season out with a record of 3-0 (0-0 SEC).

First night game at DKR is a success for Texas football's visiting recruits in Week 3 vs. UTSA

Since the Longhorns played UTSA at home, head coach Steve Sarkisian and staff hosted over 20 visiting recruits from the 2025, 2026, and 2027 classes on Saturday night at DKR. It was the first time this season that visiting recruits at Texas got to see the electric atmosphere at DKR during a night game in primetime.

This was also the first weekend where the Longhorns hosted multiple blue-chip uncommitted recruits in the 2025 and 2026 classes, along with a couple of flip targets in the current cycle. It was a good opportunity for the Longhorns staff to set the table for what could be to come on the recruiting trail for the rest of the fall for the next couple of cycles.

Here's a look at five key visiting recruits for the Longhorns impressed by the 49-point win at DKR over UTSA in Week 3.

Joseph Mbatchou, DL (Florida commit)

Three-star Florida Gators defensive line commit Joseph Mbatchou made his first visit to Austin over the weekend since the Longhorns offered him last month in August. The insanely athletic 6-foot-5 and 285-pound defensive lineman from Loganville (GA) Grayson High School is one of Texas's top flip targets at the position this fall in the 2025 class.

Inside Texas reported on Sep. 16 (paid content) that Mbatchou was impressed by the atmosphere and the way the Longhorns showed out on defense in the convincing win over UTSA on Saturday night. Mbatchou got to talk with Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker in-person during his unofficial visit following the win over UTSA on Sep. 14.

Mbatchou is scheduled to take a return trip to Austin for his Texas official visit for the highly anticipated matchup on Oct. 19 at DKR against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs.
