Marco Jones, EDGE

Texas hosted some big-time EDGEs among its official visitors on the defensive side of the ball this weekend. High-four-star commit Lance Jackson, four-star Smith Orogbo, and high-four-star Marco Jones highlighted the top edge rushers officially visiting Texas from June 14-16.

Jones was the top out-of-state edge rusher target officially visiting Texas this weekend. Texas is pitching him to play as an off-ball linebacker/hybrid edge rusher. The 6-foot-5 and 245-pound edge rusher from Danville (CA) San Ramon Valley High School reportedly had "a lot to think about" regarding Texas's pitch to him during the official visit.

Texas was battling the Michigan Wolverines and USC entering Jones's official visit to Austin this weekend. And it sounds like Texas could've solidified its spot among Jones's top two schools, alongside Michigan, after a successful official visit experience in the last 48 hours.

Riley Pettijohn, LB

High-four-star McKinney (TX) linebacker Riley Pettijohn was one of the focal points for Texas's recruiting efforts among the official visitors on the defensive side of the ball this weekend. The No. 1 linebacker recruit in Texas in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking had another successful trip to Austin for his official visit this weekend.

Texas reportedly solidified its position as the pacesetter in the race to land a commitment from Pettijohn early this summer. While he kept things pretty close to the chest this weekend, it sounds like Texas really knocked it out of the park with Pettijohn.

The only official visit left on the docket for Pettijohn this summer is to College Station next weekend to see Texas A&M and new head coach Mike Elko. Texas A&M would need something pretty magical to happen during his official visit to College Station from June 21-23 to unseat Texas as the leader in this recruitment.

Texas fans should feel good about their positioning here with Pettijohn with a decision likely coming in the next few months.
