Texas should feel good about its chances with nearly a half-dozen official visitors who were on campus last weekend.

Nick Townsend, TE

Texas's top tight end priority in the 2025 class, Spring (TX) Dekaney high-four-star Nick Townsend, just wrapped up his official visit to Austin on June 23. Jeff Banks and the Longhorns are fighting the Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M, and USC Trojans in the race to land a commitment from Townsend this summer.

Townsend's recruitment is very likely going to come down to a battle on the recruiting trail between Texas and Alabama. He had great official visits to both schools this summer.

Alabama had the lead in Townsend's recruitment after his official visit to Tuscaloosa in early June. But Texas was able to reportedly swing momentum back in its favor after making a very positive impression on Townsend and his family during his official visit last weekend.

Texas has a lot of factors working in its favor in this recruitment. First, it's been reported that Townsend probably wants to stay in-state if he can help it for his college decision. It's also important to note that Texas has multiple commitments in the 2025 class, namely four-star quarterback KJ Lacey and four-star tight end Emaree Winston, recruiting him to Austin.

I think Townsend really likes the idea of playing in that JT Sanders-type role as a receiving tight end threat in Sarkisian's offense.

Townsend doesn't have a decision timeline that's been made public. But it wouldn't surprise me if he's ready to commit before the start of his senior season.
