5-Star Texas PF target Sadiq White sets commitment date

On3 reported on May 28 that five-star Texas basketball forward target and Charlotte (NC) Fort Myers product Sadiq White Jr. will make his decision at the On3 Elite Series on May 29. White will announce his commitment live on the On3 Recruits YouTube Channel on May 29 at 5 p.m. CT.

Texas was included among the seven finalist schools for White that he will decide between on Wednesday evening. The other six schools that made the cut for his finalists are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgetown Hoyas, LSU Tigers, Syracuse Orange, Tennessee Volunteers, and USC Trojans.

Head coach Rodney Terry and director of recruiting Ty Larson have kept in consistent communication with White since the start of this offseason. White said that Terry and staff make sure he knows he's a priority for them for the 2025 class and that he likes how Texas develops and utilizes their wings.

"I’ve always been a Texas fan growing up. I love how they produce guys every year and how they utilize the versatile players. Me and coach Terry have had some good talks and their Director of Recruiting coach Ty has been really on my game and me since last year."

White is the highest-rated out-of-state power forward offer for Terry and the Longhorns in the 2025 class. Terry and staff offered White nearly one year ago to this day, on June 6, 2023.

White is not the first blue-chip recruit Terry and the Longhorns have pursued on the trail from the Carolinas.

The No. 5 power forward nationally in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite is the second big-time recruit from the Carolinas Texas that has been a finalist for in as many cycles after they at one time held a commitment from five-star Lexington (SC) shooting guard Cam Scott for 2024.
