Per On3's Joe Tipton, five-star Texas basketball shooting guard target and Pocatello (ID) Wasatch Academy product Isiah Harwell will commit on Sep. 12. The No. 2 shooting guard recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite narrowed down his list of finalists to four, including the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Cal Golden Bears, Houston Cougars, and Texas.

Despite not having taken a visit to Austin since Texas offered him a couple of years ago, Harwell still likes head coach Rodney Terry's free-flowing offensive system and the emphasis on high-level guard play on the perimeter. He's been following the recruitment of five-star shooting guard Tre Johnson to Texas and is interested by the prospect of playing in this system for Terry.

"The guards they have, how he lets them play. The coaches there are good. They are cool, really chill. It’s Texas they always give it the best shot, and they always go hard. The vibes are good there. They produce a lot of guards, and really good guards like Tre Johnson are committed there."

The 6-foot-5 and 190-pound shooting guard who attends high school in Utah at Wasatch Academy has been a key out-of-state target for Terry and staff in the 2025 cycle going back multiple years now. Texas has consistently communicated with Harwell and built a solid relationship with him over the last couple of years.

Harwell has one official visit scheduled before he makes his decision in mid-September. He will officially visit Cal in late June (specifically from June 25-26). Harwell has already taken visits to Houston unofficially back in March and an official visit to see Gonzaga in late February of 2024.
